Rahui Te Kiri Reserve, Omaha
225 Mangatawhiri Road, Omaha
76KM BY ROAD
Rahui Te Kiri reserve is located in the southern (newer) end of the Omaha peninsula. The reserve runs all the way from the main road - between the houses - to the dunes next to the golden sands of Omaha Beach. The real estate on either side of the reserve and facing the beach is some of the most exclusive and expensive in New Zealand.
Parking can be pretty tough at Omaha so please arrive in plenty of time for your event. The lower part of the peninsula will be closed to traffic as soon as the event car park fills up so be ready to park in the side streets as you get close.
Important! Rahui Te Kiri Reserve is home to a very active group of rabbits and ... wow ... these guys know how to dig. So please be very mindful of your footing as you move around the grassed area of the venue as there are likely to be many rabbit holes on the lookout for an unwary runner's ankle.
Venue Map
Your finish line is at the northern end of the reserve - nearest to the beach and about a 200 metre walk from the road. Race Number pickup and the Merchandise Tent are right next to the finish line, backing onto the dune path. Gear drop will be on the eastern side - facing the finish chute.
The start line is approximately 250 metres from the venue at the corner of Taumata Rd and Mangatawhirir Rd (near the entrance to the reserve). Check out the location map for details but we will also take a walking bus from the venue to the start line around 10 minutes before the start ... listen for announcements.
For car parking and portaloo locations - and more info - please check out the Location Map below.
Location Map
The event venue is a long thin strip of land with the main participant area and finish line at the northern (beach) end. The venue car park - which accommodates around 200 vehicles - is at the southern end and you'll find the portaloos here too. Take note of the path on the map showing the walk from the venue to the start line. This is about 200 metres and it's worth allowing a few minutes to get there and aim to arrive at the line at least 5-10 minutes prior to your start time.
For more information on parking, please see the dedicated Travel & Parking page and associated map.
